Hardware Profiles
Prerequisites
- Access Level: Admin, Super-admin.
- Permission Requirements:
- . Basic VM Interaction
- View drives (inconsistent, see notes)
- View hardware/image setups made available to them
- View own VM configs and configs shared with them
- View own VMs and VMs shared with them
- . VM Administration
- View all VM configs in the system
- Arbitrarily edit any VM config
- View host machines and hardware information in any Libvirt realm
- Create new hardware profiles (metadata)
- Edit any hardware profile
- Delete any hardware profile
- Arbitrarily view logs from any VM
Access Hardware Profiles
- Go to the Management icon in the top left taskbar.
- Navigate to the Virtual Machines section.
- Click the Hardware Profiles in the left panel.
View Basic Information of a Hardware Profile
- Go to the Management icon in the top left taskbar.
- Navigate to the Virtual Machines section.
- Click the Hardware Profiles in the left panel.
- Select the hardware profile you want to view.
- Click the View button in the top right panel.
- In the left panel, view the hardware profile's name, description, realm, source, cost function ID, cores, memory, and PCI & USB devices.
Create a New Hardware Profile
- Go to the Management icon in the top left taskbar.
- Navigate to the Virtual Machines section.
- Click the Hardware Profiles in the left panel.
- Click the Create new hardware profile button in the top right panel.
- In the pop-up, enter the hardware profile name and realm.
- Select cores, maximum memory, device name, ID, quantity, device vendor and type.
- Click Add device button below.
- Enter an optional description.
- Click Create hardware profile.
note
You may add multiple devices per hardware profile as needed.
Edit a Hardware Profile
- Go to the Management icon in the top left taskbar.
- Navigate to the Virtual Machines section.
- Click the Hardware Profiles in the left panel.
- Select the hardware profile you want to edit.
- Click the Edit button in the top right panel.
- In the pop-up, edit the hardware profile name and realm.
- Update cores, maximum memory, device name, ID, quantity, device vendor and type.
- Click Add device button below to execute the changes.
- Edit the optional description.
- Once done, click Update hardware profile.

Editing hardware profiles from the front-end is only supported in Nutanix realms.
Delete Hardware Profile(s)

- Go to the Management icon in the top left taskbar.
- Navigate to the Virtual Machines section.
- Click the Hardware Profiles in the left panel.
- Select the hardware profile(s) you want to delete.
- Click the Delete button in the top right panel.
- In the pop-up, click Delete.

Deleting hardware profiles from the front-end is only supported in Nutanix realms.
